ANNUAL COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS. RAKAIA WINS TEAMS MATCH. T. MIDDLETON COUNTY CHAMPION. The Ashburton County Small Bore Rifle Association conducted its annual championship at the Ashburton Club’s range on Saturday evening. There were over 80 riflemen present, representing the majority of the County clubs. The entries were very good, but were slightly less than the record of last season, and an increase was made in the prizes. Tliei shooting on the whole was not of an exceptionally high standard, and the scores in the teams matches in some instances were very poor. Nevertheless competition was very keen, and several shoot-offs were necessary in the individual and aggregate matches to decide the winners. The results were:— Teams Match, 18 entries. THE MOUNT SOMERS CLUB. The weekly shoot of the Mount Somers Miniature Rifle Club was again largely attended. The third shoot for the No. 3 trophy was fired, in conjunction with shoots for various cups, special trophies, and shoot-offs for the Nos. 1 and 2 trophies. The best scores were: Seniors—Miss K. Miss E. Gifkins 64, Miss B. Stephen 62, J- Harris 60. In a shoot-off for the No. 1 trophy R. Carson beat G.- Bland after three shoots. In a shoot-off for the No. 2 trophy between H. Hood, G. Hood, E. Doonan, L. Morgan, L. Hood, H. Morgan, Miss K. Bland and R. Carson, the first four tied and will shoot again. In the shoot-off for the junior trophy between J. Hepburn, W. Roveley, W. Stephen and Miss T. Morgan, Hepburn won. With eleven trophy and one match shoots completed, leading scores for the Woohners Cup are: L. Hood 933, R, Carson 932, H. Hood 928, Miss K. Bland 926, G. Bland 922. With ten completed shoots, leading scores for the Lincoln Hills junior cup are: W. Reveley 721, W. Stephen 687, J. Hepburn 681.
