THE ASHBURTON CLUB. THE ANNUAL MEETING. The Ashburton Motor Cycle Club held its annual meeting on Saturday evening, the president (Mr J. Leask) presiding. In his annual report the president made reference to the strong financial position of the club, which was partially due to a greatly increased membership and the holding of various social activities during the season. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £8 6s 4d, with total assets of approximately £BB. At the conclusion of the meeting Mr R. A. Anthony, who was married recently, was presented with a silver teapot from the members of the club. Mr G. T. Clarke, in making the presentation, spoke of the good work done by Mr Anthony, whom, he said, had been an active member of the club for many

years. He extended the goodi wishes of all members to both Mr and Mrs Anthony. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: Patron, Mr H. Brown, of Seaview; president, Mr G. T. Clarke; vice - presidents, Messrs J. R. Leask, G. Bowman, S. Preddy, C. Pickford, E. J. Watson and W. Glasson; club captain, Mr J. E. Smith; vice-captain Mr A. Weir; secretary, Mr W. J. Dailey; honorary auditor, Mr W. J. Preddy; committee, Messrs R. Chambers, J. Johnston, J. Reeves and G. Robertson. The election of trade members wa9 held over for the new committee, there being at present no members available for the positions.
