PERSONAL.
Mr H. E. Herring, M.P., left Ashburton on Saturday evening for Wellington to attend the session of Parliament.
Miss V. Townsend, M.A., of the staff of the Ashburton. High School has received word that she has been appointed to a position on the staff of the Otago Girls’ High School. She will commence her duties there at the beginning of the third term.
Messrs E. F. Nicoll (Chairman) and EL. G. Kemp (Engineer-Secretary) were this morning appointed to represent the Ashburton .Power Board at the annual conference of power authorities at Wellington on August 21. Mr Kemp will attend the engineers’ conference, which will be held about the same time.
Messrs A. H. Todd, EL. C. McDonald, A. C. Wilson and. J. M; Murison represented the Ashburton Savage Club at a korero conducted by the South Canterbury Savage Club at Timaru on Saturday, when more than 40 members of the Dunedin Orphans’ Club were entertained. Representatives of kindred organisations from Oamaru, Christchurch and Macandrew’s Bay were also present.
