AN INSPECTION OF ASCOT. NOT ATTENDING THE MEETING. (United Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.20 a.m.) LON‘DON, June 16. Owing to the Court mourning the King and other members of the Royal Family did not attend the Royal Ascot :race meeting, which opened in fine weather to-day. The King’s interest in the meeting was, however, displayed last night, when his Majesty drove to: the racecourse and inspected the arrangements at the Royal Box, which was bedecked with flowers, and visited the Royal onclosure. The King then went to the Royal stables, where the horses owned by him and the Ean'l of Derby", which are running this week, are kept. Main interest centres in the race for the Gold Cup on Thursllay.—British Official Wireless.
