ASHBURTON GUILD MEETS. , SUCCESSFUL YEAR’S WORK. The Ashburton Guild of the British Sailors’ Society held its annual meeting yesterday afternoon, the firesident (Mrs J. Russell Wells) presiding, A successful year was reviewed. by the annual report, which said that all meetings Were well attended. The big effort was the dance held in September. Mrs W 911 s gave a garden party at her residence in November. An excellent programme of music and recitations was given at the party, and a cake stall and a. produce stall were conducted. Several ditty .bags and articles suitable for ditty bags were collected. The sum of £4O was sent to the Lyttelton Institute, also a Christmas cake and 30 ditty bags. The balance-sheet- showed that the year began with a, credit of £l6 188 6d and closed with a credit of £l7 2s. The election of officers resulted : President, Mrs J. Russell Wells; vicepresidents, Lady Nlosworthy, Mesdavmes J. H. Grigg, \V. H._Collins, M. Bruce, E. B. Newton, and W. J. Moore 3 secretary, Miss M. Cameron; treasurer, Mrs L. A. Charles; committee, Mesdames H. Bell, ‘J. Connor, A. Brown, P. A. Cornish, A. J. Millichamp, P. J. Andrew, G, A. Gilchrist, and Miss Loy; music conveners, Mes(laines \V'. H. \Voods, C. Robertson, E. M. Gabites, and R. S. V‘Vatsom. During the afternoon, Mrs Charles gave a solo.
