THE WEATHER.
DULL AND MILIDITO-DAY. With an overcast sky, conditions in Ashburton to-day were dull. The temperature, following a, frost last night of one degree, was mild, and’ there was only a light north-easterly breeze. The maximum temperature yester—day was 51 degrees, and the inside minimum last night 35.9 degrees. Barometric pressure at 9 o’clock this morning had fallen to 29.76 inches from 30.11 inches yesterday morning. TO-DAY'S FORECAST. WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather : General inference: An anti—cyclone still covers the North Island, but is moving slowly eastward. A depression lies in a north to south direction across the Tasman Sea. _ - ‘
The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Damaru is as follows : Light to moderate, but later freshening northerly winds. \Ventlxer fair, mild and hazy. Seas slight to moderate but later rising north of Kaikoura.
