LABOUR FOR FARMS.
POSITION CAUSES ANXIETY. (Per Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, June 12. I Support for an immigration scheme} on the lines of that preposed in Auck—l land province was given by the North Taranaki Executive of the Farmers’ Union to-day, when grave anxiety was expresséc‘tm regarding the farm labour position in the coming production season. It was said that farmers could not hope to compete with Public Works wages of £4 for a five-day week. The Auckland scheme propose-d immigration of’young single men selected carefully w ensure their usefulness to New Zealand farnzers.
