HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT.
The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram dated April 11, 1936, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow—Market very quiet, quotations nominal.
Fruit—Shipments per the Wairangi and Mataroa discharged generally m sound condition, but there is some waste in Cox’s Orange apples, which is affecting prices. Market still weak. The following are the market values of sound conditioned fruit of the varieties mentioned, the range of prices generally representing the difference between the several grades and/oi counts. Variable conditioned fruit of similar varieties pioportioately less in value. Quotations are:—Apples: Cox’s Orange 10s to 16s, Jonathan 9s to 12s, Dunn’s Favourite 9s to 11s, Ribston’s Pippin and Worcester Pearmain 9s to 10s 6d, Ballarat 9s to 10s. Pears: Market improving. Current prices aie. Cornice 10s to 13s, trays 10s to 11s; Beurre Bose Us to 12s, Conference 10s to 12s, Louise Bon Jersey 9s to 10s, Beurre Clairgeau 8s to 9s.

THE AUCKLAND MARKET.
(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 14. Supplies of potatoes just before the holiday were very short. The spot position lias now eased, about 800 sacks having arrived by the Wingatui./These are the first of the new season’s supply from Canterbury, and although they are not fully matured, they are suitable for quick sale. They are worth £9 a ton through store. Rangitikei potatoes are also available in limited quantities and are worth £9 10s a ton through store. The market for onions is well supplied from iPukekohe. The wheat market is heavily supplied with undergrade, which is being disposed of for fowl wheat at Id to 2d a. bushel lower than graded. Graded is difficult to procure, and is worth around 6s 2d a. bushel through store. The market for oats is quietly firm owing to delayed threshing in the south. B Gallons for feed are selling around 4s a bushel through store, and A Gallons at 4s 4d. The chaff market is quiet at late rates at £7 17s 6d a ton through store. Bran is slow at £0 15s a ton. The Australian pollard market is firm, and local merchants prices arc* unaltered at £8 15s a ton.
