TOURNAMENT AT NELSON. WON BY ASHBURTON PLAYER, The golf competitions at Nelson, played in conjunction with the Easter tournament, were won by L. E. Carter, of Ashburton. Details of games in which Carter took part are:—No. 7 Flight—Semifinal : Carter beat McKee. No. 8 Flight Second round: Carter beat Trent (Nelson). Semi-final: Carter beat Huggins. .3 and 2. Final: Carter beat Langbein, 3 and 2. ASHBURTON LADIES’ CLUB. The Ashburton Ladies’ Golf Club will play the first round of the eclectic competition to-morrow, for which members will arrange their own partners. AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIP. AUCKLAND, April 14. In the final of the Auckland Provincial Golf Championship, played at Titirangi, H. D. Brinsden (Titirangi),

defeated J. H. Young (Titirangi) 1 up. The winner repeated his performance of four years ago when he won the title. HORNABROOK RETAINS TITLE. WELLINGTON, April 14. J. P. Hornahrook (Masterton), retained his title of Wellington provincial champion by defeating J. L. Black in the final on the Hutt Club’s links to-day by 2 and 1. PROMISING TARANAKI PLAYERS. NEW PLYMOUTH, April 14. The Taranaki amateur championship was won to-day by D. V. Sutherland, who defeated F. D. Jones 2 and 1 in the final. Both are young players of distinct promise, who eliminated experienced players in the oarlier rounds.
