LEAP-YEAR “RACKET.”

BACHELOR PREMIER POPULAR. MONTREAL, April 10. The first victim of the “Leap-year racket” brave enough to speak of his trials has announced his popularity—to an audience of women. “There are some girls in this province who are more mercenary than romantic,” lie said. “They have written me Leap-year proposals, but they suggest that if I refuse them, a new dress would he an acceptable balm—and the size of the chess is invariably given.”
