THE WEATHER.
MILD AND OVERCAST TO-DAY. With an overcast sky and a sharp iiorth r easterly breeze, conditions in Ashburton were cool this morning. The sun shone through the clouds later making the temperature milder, but the sky remained fairly cloudy. The maximum temperature yesterday was 61.8 degrees, and the minimum last night 47.6 degrees. Barometric pressure at 9 o’clock this morning was ‘30.22 inches, compared with 30.31 inches yesterday morning. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General inference: An intense anticyclone still extends from the east across the Dominion, but a depression is moving slowly to the north. The forecast for the east coast of tile South Island from Blenheim to Qamaru is as follows: Light variable winds. Weather fair to fine, but misty or foggy at times on the coast. Seas smooth to slight.
