IMPORTS HIGHER IN JANUARY. VALUE OF EXPORTS RISES. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 4. Overseas trade returns for New Zealand in January were as follow (excluding specie):— £ Exports 6,089,335 Imports 3,597,267 Excess exports .. 2,501,068 For January, 1935, the figures were: £ Exports 5,070,000 Imports 3,227,000 Excess exports .. 1,879,000 For January, 1934, the figures were: £ Exports 5,080,000, Imports 2,859,000' Excess exports .. 2,221,000 All the above values are expressed in terms of New Zealand currency. The value of specie excluded was:— Exports £3OOO sterling; imports £IOSB sterling.
