GALA CUP CHAMPIONSHIPS. SEEDED PLAYERS' ANNOUNCED. The" seeded players for the Mid-Can-terbury Lawn Tennis Sub-Association's Gala Cup championships, commencing next Saturday, are:— Men's Singles—P. McLauchlan, E. Bryant, V. W. Russell, A. Stanley. Women's Singles—Misses D. Vesty and E. Meredith. Men's Doubles —P. McLauchlan and V. W. Russell, C. A. Cuff and C. J. Bonnington, E. 'Bryant and W. T. Watkins, A. Stanley and L. R. Clarke. Women's Doubles —Misses Meredith and McHarrie. Combined Doubles—E. Bryant and Miss Meredith, C. J. Bonnington and Miss Vesty, P. McLauchlan and, Miss H. Harper, L. R. Clarke and Miss I. Dahlberg. Junior Men's Singles —A. Oakley and CL J. Hooper. Junior Women's Singles—Miss M. Watson and Miss M. Graham. The junior women's doubles event was abandoned en account of insufficient entries. . NEW ZEALAND JUNIORS. GOOD FORM AT SYDNEY. (United Press Association—Copyright.) SYDNEY, March 4. At the New South Wales junior tennis championships, the New Zealand representatives again displayed pleasing form. A. I). Brown and J. T. Mayson achieved a notable success in defeating a formidable combination in W. G. Tout and D. McVey; I. L. Corich and R. G. Pattinson made a highly creditable showing against H. Lindo and J. Gilchrist, who are regarded as one of the two best junior pairs in the state. Pattinson's victory against McPherson was a particularly good performance.
Critics applaud Pattinson's free style, and consider he is full of promise. Results included:—Bovs' singles championship, under 21_J T Mayson beat R. Vaughan, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3; N. F. Belford heat G. Gemmelsmith, 6-1, 6-1. Boys' doubles, under 21: I. J- Conch and It G. Pattinson lost to H. Luido and J. Gilchrist, 1-6, 6-8; AD Brown and J. T. Mayson beat W. G. Tout and D. McVey, 6-3, 6-3. Boys' singles under 19: R. G. Pattinson beat G. McPherson, 8-6, 6-3; S. Painter heat L. Sargent, 6-2, 6-3. Boys' singles under 15—S. Painter beat H. Goggins, 6-1. _ * Men's special singles—R. G. Pattinson lost to A. Crawford, 8-10, 7-5, 1-6; J. W. Gunn beat G. Smythe, 6-1, 6-1. Mixed Special Doubles.—J. W. Dunn and Miss Macsmith lost to N. Peach and Mrs McMahon, 3-6, 7-5, 5-7.
