ST. JAMES THEATRE. “The Unwelcome Stranger,” the Columbia comedy-drama, will be shown at the St. James Theatre to-night and tomorrow night. Not only is its story a very human one of interest to both adults and youngsters, but the production is excellent, the cast splendid, the direction sympathetic, and the heart-throbs and laughs wisely spaced, Everyone is superstititious, whether or not lie will admit is. And the film deals in delightful detail with bugaboos and jinxes. Nearly everyone in the cast has at least one weakness, with the emphasis placed on Jack Holt, who, as the wealthy owner of a stock farm where fine racehorses are bred ’ and trained, honestly believes had luck is at his heels if there’s an orphan—human or animal—for miles around. Jack Holt’s portrayal is just another reason why he has maintained stardom for nearly twenty years. His is an exromantic role in the acceptedHolt tradition. Mona Barrie, as Holt’s wife, delivers a sincere and charming performance.
