NEW LEG-BEFORE RULE. APPEAL FOR GENERAL USE. LONDON, February 5. Sir Stanley Jackson, at the annual meeting of the Yorkshire Cricket Club, appealed for the general adoption of the leg-before-wicket experiment. He said: “It may be contended that there is a difference between county grounds and first-class umpires, and natural wickets and “natural” umpires in the lower grades. Admittedly the new rule would increase the difficulties of the latter, but he did, not think its adoption -would spoil the game. ASHBURTON v. S. CANTERBURY. At a meeting of the management committee of the South Canterbury Cricket Association last evening a letter was received from the Ashburton Association offering to send teams to Timaru on any Saturday after March 7. It was decided to hold the matter over until the next meeting, when it may be possible to decide on definite dates. TEAMS FOR TO-MORROW.
