NEW LEG-BEFORE RULE. APPEAL FOR GENERAL USE. LONDON, February 5. He said: “It may be contended that there is a difference between county grounds and first-class umpires, and natural wickets and “natural” umpires in the lower grades. Admittedly the new rule would increase the difficulties of the latter, but he did, not think its adoption -would spoil the game. ASHBURTON v. S. CANTERBURY. At a meeting of the management committee of the South Canterbury Cricket Association last evening a letter was received from the Ashburton Association offering to send teams to Timaru on any Saturday after March 7.
