WARM DAY WITH CLOUDY SKY.

The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General inference: A shallow depression, followed by a slight secondary, is crossing Now Zealand, while an anticyclone covers the south-west Tasman Sea and is advancing eastward. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Strong north-westerly winds at first north of Christchurch, hut a change to south-westerly advancing from the south, winds becoming more southerly by morning. Weather changeable, with showers at times. Temperatures cooler. Seas rough north of Kaikoura. elsewhere moderate.
