THE IRONWORKERS’ STRIKE. JUDGE CRITICIBES MEN’S ACT. (United Press Association—Copyright.) SYDNEY, February 4. A compulsory private conference between the parties' to the dispute at the Port Kembla steel works was held to-day before Mr Justice Cantor, of the Industrial Commission, but no settlement was reached. The judge, referring the matter into open court, declared that the men should have brought their claims before the Industrial Commission —instead of that, they had sought to‘ impose their own conditions. He advised the men to resume work and present their claims to the commission, thus avoiding further liea\y loss. All union members withdrew trom employment at the Port Kembla works of Australian Lon and Steel, Ltd., tins morning. About 3200 men are affected.
