DOMINION PRICES UNCHANGED.

SALES IN THE PROVINCES. \ EARLY SETTLEMENT EXFECTED. 1 (Received This Day, 10.5 a.m.) LONDON, Fen. 4 The strike of the shopmen at the Smithfield market so far has not affected the prices of New Zealand and Australian meat in the provinces. New Zealand and Australian meat circles anticipate an early settlement.

STOCKS AMPLE FOR SOME DAYS. NO RISE IN PRICE EXPECTED. (Received This Day, 1.20 p.m.) LONDON, February 4. The employers state that supplies of meat are ample for some days. Prices are not expected to rise, but it is generally believed that retail supplies will decrease on Thursday. Smithfield was again peacefully picketed throughout the night. DOCKERS ALSO CEASE WORK. STRONG PICKETS POSTED. LONDON, February 4. The Australian Associated Press understands that Australian firms sent large consignments to the provinces today, but fear that the Smithfield shopmen’s strike will spread to the railway and dock workers. Some Smithfield operators are talking of military convoys for the meat unless the strike is protffptly settled. Pickets visited some riverside wharves at 3 a.m., where Smithfield meat was being unloaded, and persuaded the dockers to cease work. The pickets did not interfere at the wharves where supplies for smaller markets outside London were being unloaded. Smithfield was strongly picketed all night to prevent arrivals of meat. Extra police have been drafted in. No shipments of Australian meat arrived at London during- the week-end. The nearest arrival is the Port Gisborne, due on February 6. The only effect on the Stock Exchange was a fall of 6d in Smithfield and Argentine ordinary shares.
