BILLIARDS.
LINDRUM PLAYS NEWMAN. LONDON, February 4. Lindrum had an exasperating opening session against Newman in the “Daily Mail” sealed handicap. Lindrum’s cue, which he has possessed for 10 years, gradually split, necessitating one-third of an inch being sawn off and a new piece grafted on. Lindrum fancied that the operation resulted in the cue being one-tenth of an inch longer, struck unresponsively, consequently he repeatedly broke down. Newman 2500 (including a. break of 856), Lindrum 549 (best break 157).
