The appointment cf Mr G. A. Lcuvin as town clerk of Dunedin has been extended for another year. Mr Lewin received the congratulations of councillors last night on the completion of 25 years’ service in his present position.
Beatrice Elizabeth Daley and Huena Mary Shearer,- of the Ashburton High School, were the only Ashburton candidates to win a senior free place in a secondary, technical, combined or disjtrict high school as a result of the intermediate examination held last November.
Miss Agnes Stops, of Northampton, England (voluntary organiser for the Women’s Institute), who is on a tour of the institutes of the South Island, after having toured in Ceylon and the Malay States, Avill pass through Ashburton by the express train to-incrrow! morning. She Avill visit Ashburton on February 18, when she Avill hold a group meeting at Staveley.
