WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT TINWALD. The monthly meeting of the Tniwald Women's Institute was hold in the Parish Hall yesterday afternoon. The president (Mrs H. Houston) presided over a fair attendance. A circular was read from the president of the- Washington Federation concerning sending a New Zealand member of a Women's Institute to America. Members were reminded that nomination papers must be handed in at the next monthly meeting. A demonstration was given by Mrs Whiting on preserving fisli and vegetables, and butter, for the winter. Results of competitions were as follow':—Article made from a sugar bag, Mrs F. Aldridge 1, Mrs J. Roffey 2; jar of raspberry jam, Mrs H. Houston 1, Mrs JBrunton 2; crystallised flowers, Mrs Houston 1, Mrs Bayliss 2; six scones, Mrs Christie 1, Mrs Brunton 2.
The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Christie and J. O'Shea.
