Cynthia Stockley, the novelist, was found dead by a charwoman in her flat at Bayswater, covered by a counterpane, under which was a tube leading to a gas ring. Friends say that despite the success of her novel's, she felt herself out of touch with the modern world. The title of her last unpublished novel is "Suicide Season."
