ROAD BOARD MEETS.
THE LONGBEACH DISTRICT. Tho monthly meeting of the Longbeach Road Board was held yesterday afternoon. Present were Messrs J. P. McQuilkin (chairman), W. J. Anderson, J. H. Grige, H. Watts and L. Maginness. Correspondence was (received from tho Department of Labour concerning the statutory half-holiday. It was decided to make no alteration.
The Eiffelton sub-branch of the Plunket Society wrote asking for a donation to its funds. Three guineas was granted. The clerk submitted; the usual estimate of funds in sight to March 31, 1936, and the position disclosed was considered quite satisfactory. The clerk reported having filed the necessary application for the special subsidy of 12| per cent, on rates on farm lands.
The overseer reported that the chief work during the past month had been done on Poplar, Bntterick's, Tansey's. Boundary, Terrace, Windermere, Williams', Wheeler's, River, Johnston's, and Swamp Roads. Pipes had been laid on the last crossing on Terrace Road.
The hank balance showed a debit of £32 16s Gd.
