This was Miss Nottava’s first win since recovering from her injury at Randwick on April 27 last. It was feared that her racing days were over, but the severed tendon of her hind leg responded almost miraculously to trainer Jack King’s treatment. A special crowshoe was employed to give her leg the necessary lift to enable the ends of the severed tendon to meet. Limbohm’s performance was particularly creditable, as he was left at the post, losing nearly half a furlong. Clara Butt, Red Rosebud and Hands tip were unplaced in divisions of the Maiden Welter Handicap. Headmaster and Dual Ratio were unplaced in the Flying Welter. Raepata was third in the first division of the Nursery Handicap, in which Prospective was unplaced. The Palmist was second in the second ..division of the Nursery. Cockpen was second in the C'ampsie Handicap. The former New Zealand rider, M, McCarten, has regained his old form. He has been riding with conspicuous success recently, his run of victories on two-year-olds being remarkable. He rode two winners to-day, including Blackbord, by Magpie—Ascalon, winner of the first division of the Nursery Handicap.
