BIG SALARIES.
HIGHLY-PAID FILM STARS. MAE WEST HEADS THE LIST. (United Press Association—Copyright.) WASHINGTON, January 7. The names of 18,000 individuals in America receiving annual compensation of more than 15,000 dollars during 1934 have been published by a Congressional Committee. The nuinbei* of incomes of more than 100,000 dollars was found to he considerable. Among film stars, Mae West led the list with 339,000 dollars. Others were Marlene Reitricb, with. 145,000, W. C. Fields with 155,555, Miriam Hopkins with 71,000 Gary Cooper with 139,000, Charles Chaplin with 143,000 and' Claudette Cilbert with 85,000 dollars. Mr George Hill, president of the American Tobacco Company, led business executives with 187*000. In the newspaper field Mr W. R. Hearst received a l-ound half million from various enterprises. Hss editorial writer, Mr Arthur Brisbane, received 285,000.
