THE MAIN TRUNK.
INSPECTION THIS MONTH. MINISTERS TO PAY visit. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 8. The Hon. R, Semple (Minister tor Public Works) and the Hon. I. O. Webb (Minister for Mines), in company with departmental advisers, will leave on Friday night, for Nelson to start a. fortnight’s tour of the northern portion of the South Island. During the visit they will inspect the mining areas of the West Coast and various railway lines, including the unfinished South Island Main Trunk. Under tlie present itinerary they are scheduled to reach Westport on January 13 and Greymouth on January 10, whence they go to South Westland to view roads and so on. They will reach Christchurch on January 23, and w <i leave the same t day for Kaikoura, inspecting the main trunk construction en route. . . The party will continue to Bienne?m and Picton, and is expected to arrive back in Wellington on January 2 0.
