THE OLYMPIC GAMES GERMANY PREPARING STADIUMS AUCKLANjD, January 6. The president of the International Amateur Athletic Federation and a member of the Olympic Games Council, Mr J. Sigfrid Edstrom, arrived by the Aorangi this morning. He hopes to see both islands before sailing from Wellington on January 16. Discussing the Olympic Games to be held in Berlin in July and August, Mr Sigfrid said that Germany had spent £1,100,000 in preparing stadiums and other accommodation. The major stadium would accommodate 100,TOO, the swimming stadium 20,000, and the open-air theatre 20,000. From the tourist point of view, Germany was well organised, and there was no interference with foreigners. The aspect of the country was peaceful to the outsider, though religious persecutions were causing a lot of internal trouble.
