A NEW 'PLANE.
BRITISH COMMERCIAL CRAFT. (United Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, January 0. The aeronautical correspondent of "The Times" says work has begun on the construction of a passenger and mail carrying version of the de Havilland Comet, which won the Melbourne Centenary air race. It will have an estimated top speed of '240 miles an hour, and a cruising speed of 200 miles an hour. Four 12-eylinder Gipsy engines of a new type, developing -100 horse-power each, will give it a payioad of at least a ton and* a half. The use of variable pitch airscrews will probably increase the payioad. '
