MORE CHANGES AND TRANSFERS (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 6. Changes and transfers are being made in the priesthood of the Marist Order (Society of Mary) in New Zealand, following on the return of the Provincial of the Order (the Very Rev. ]>. M. Hurley) from a visit to Rome. One ol the most important is the appointment of the Rev.. Father Schaefer (Superior of the Highden Seminary for ates) to the General Council ot the Society of Mary at Rome. He win leave for Rome at the end ot the month, and will be succeeded by tneRev. Dr. I>. Kennedy, late provincial of the Marist Order. The Rev. Father Spillane, who lias been acting at St. Mary of the Angels, Roulcott Street, during the absence in Europe of the Rev. Father J. O Connor, is to be employed in mission work. It is intended to expand the scope of the Marist Order in Australia, and the Rev. Father T. Macartby has been appointed Superior of the Marist Order in Australia. Father Macarthy, who is now in residence at the Mission House, Wellington, will leave for Sydney about the end of the month.
