For the opening day of the Greymouth Trotting Club's summer meeting at Victoria Park the weather was beautifully lino and the track was in splendid order, fast times being recorded. Isabel Derby finished with a dazzling run to break the existing track record. There was a large attendance, and the betting was keen, the totalisator handling £9745 10s compared with £6BIB on the corresponding day last year, an increase of £2927 10s. The Stratford Racing Club's summer meeting was concluded in ideal conditions. There was a large attendance, and the track was in excellent order. The totalisator handled £IB,OBI 10s, compared with £14,270 on the second day last year. The total for the meeting was £35,673 10s, compared with £28,646 10s, an increase of £7027. After an inquiry, L. Clifford was suspended for a month, for careless riding on Refresher in the Ngaere Handicap. An inquiry was held into the running of Noti'um in the Electric Handicap, but no action was taken. Upon returning to the enclosure after winning the Peter Moore Gold Cup at the Moorefield races to-day, Cherry King met with a hostile reception. During the Randwick carnival ire raced indifferently, hut to-day came with a great run over the last half-mile to win narrowly. The Moorefield Race Club offered a bonus of £IOO to the owner of any horse breaking certain records. The mile record, standing to the credit of Cave Dweller since 1929, was lowered by a quarter of a second by Cherry King. Results: — Peter Moore Gold Cup, of 500 sovs and gold cup value 50 guineas—Cherry King (New Zealand) 8.0 (F. Shean) 1, Flamari 6.10 2, Bachian 8.5 3. There were 12 starters, including Silver Jubilee, Golden Gate, Loud Applause and Wild Dove. Won by half a neck; a length and a half between second and third. Time, 1.40. Money Spi and Gallant Knight* were unplaced in the Three and Four-year-old Handicap. The Palmist was second in the Juvenile Handicap, in which Lady Ida and Raepata were unplaced.
