BIBLE-CLASS UNION.
PRESBYTERIAN YOUNC MEN. THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE. (Special to the “ Guardian.”) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The 34th annual business conference of the Presbyterian Young Men’s Bible Class Union opened yesterday morning at the Presbyterian Boys’ Home, Bligh’s Road, Papanui, where more than 40 delegates, representing 20 districts, are accommodated. The proceedings were opened by devotions conducted by the union president, Mr N. *H. G. McFarlane (Wellington), who was in the chair, after which the visiting delegates were welcomed by the president of the Canterbury district committee, Mr L. R. Bruce. The conference then settled down, to the consideration of a long agenda paper, and yesterday the adoption of the annual report was discussed. The statistics showed that more than 500 classes are affiliated to the union, with a membership of approximately 6000. The union undertakes the support of missionaries in India and China and engages a travelling secretary for organising purposes in New Zealand, for which work the sum of £I3OO was provided by classes. , A feature of the previous year s work has been the issue of literature suitable for young people, and a literary competition was conducted. The report showed that 18 successful Easter camps were held throughout the Dominion and 'were attended by more than 1300 members.
