RAIN FALLS THIS MORNTNG After a dull night, light rain began to. fall in Ashburton this morning, nine points being recorded. The rain continued during the morning while a light southerly breeze was blowing. The maximum temperature yesterday was 63.5 degrees and the minimum last night 52 degrees. The barometric pressure at 9 o’clock this morning was 30.11 inches, compared with 30.07 yesterday morning. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows': — General inference: An intense anticyclone is still centred over the Tasman Sea, and extends over the Dominion. Pressure is falling over eastern Australia. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — Light to moderate south-westerly to southerly winds, later becoming variable and to-morrow turning to northerlies. Weather fair to fine, and becoming warmer tc-morrow. Seas slight to moderate.
