CEREMONIES IN THE COUNTY. UREENSTKEfcT. The Greenstreet School break-up ceremony was held on Thursday evening. The local branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union presented a Christmas-tree, ond E athei Christmas arrived in great splendour in a carriage decorated with broom, which made a great show. He handed each child a gift from the tree. Each child also received a bag of sweets ond nuts, also a balloon. The chairman of the School Committee (Mr W. A. Lill) thanked Mrs Lilley (president) and members of the Division for their kindness and generosity in providing the gifts and supper. The chairman also made reference to the good work done by the teachei, Miss Morris. . Four children sat for the proficiency examination, three gaining proficiency and one competency. Marion Faucett gained first prize in the Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s essay competition on the Show, also a special prize for serving. Each child received a gift hook from the committee. Three cheers for Miss Morris were given by the scholars. A bountiful supper was spread, tne children taking the first sitting and the adults the second. This brought a red-letter day, as far as the children were concerned, to a very satisfactory close. One and all agreed that the function had been a marked success. the barrhill school.
