CHRISTMAS MESSAGE.

PREMIER SPEAKS TO CHILDREN. (Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, December 23. The Prime Alinister (the Hon. M. J. Savage) was enthusiastically greeted by large crowds this morning during a round of visits to orphanages and hospitals in the city and suburbs, when he left baskets of toys for the children, He was accompanied by the Hon. W. E. Parry and a representative of the Mayor (Air Ernest Davis). Speaking from the steps of the Post Office, Air Savage broadcast a Christmas message by radio to all the children of New Zealand. The effect of the message was: 44 1 want you to accept me as a friend, and not as a fair-weather friend only. If you will be my friend in the real meaning of the word there is nothing we cannot do.” Mr Parry also gave a message of goodwill, and said the Government hoped by legislation to carry on the Christmas spirit through the years.
