The owner of the yacht, Mr A. R. G, Welch, a wealthy Philadelphian, and a crew of five were picked up in heavy seas on August 27 by the Italian liner Rex. The abandoned yacht was sighted by the Aztec on September 1, about 700 miles north-east of Bermuda, and Captain Carden, of the Aztec, sent a party on board.
