CLASHES IN PARIS

SERIOUS RIOTING THREATENED.

TROUBLE OYER FASCIST MARCH

(United Press Association—Copyright) PARIS, November 11.

The Paris correspondent of the “Manchester Guardian” says that the provocative effort of the Solidarite Francaise to turn the Armistice celebrations into a Fascist demonstration caused trouble when Blue Shirts, carrying Fascist banners, marched insolently up the Champs d’Elysees. An atmosphere of civil war swept the crowd. There were immediate shouts of “Down with the Fascists!” answered with cries of “Vive la France!” and; the ,singing the Marseillaise. Such, shouting from thousands of throats had not been heard in Paris before.

Free fights started everywhere. It was amazing that the police prevented a street battle of 300,000 people. The body is not connected with the returned soldiers, and it is inexplicable that permission should have been granted for such a provocative march.
