Crowds estimated between 250,000 and 400,000 packed the Champs Elysees during the Armistice parades, and sang the Internationale and Marseillaise. Fascist groups marched to the Arc do Triomphe, -while Communists shouted "assassins.” Several clashes occurred. A number of arrests were made. A National deputy, Herriot, was among those injured. Tension prevailed in the evening in Boulevards,-where large forces ’of police broke up groups.
