Mr E. T. Tirilcateno, M.P., paid a short vJsit to Ashburton yesterday with members of the Ratana concert party.
Mr 0. J. McEachen, who has been on a holiday visit to Nelson, lias returned io Ashburton.
Mr E. Buchanan, who has been ill, was welcomed back to the table of the Ashburton Borough Council at its meeting last evening. The DeputyMayor (Mr E. H. Oar) expressed the Council’s pleasure at Mr Buchanan’s improvement in health.
Lieutenant L. Kidd has Jieen appointed superintendent of the-Ashbur-ton Volunteer Fire Brigade in. succession to the late Mr T. P. Barber. The appointment was approved by the Borough Council last evening.
Mr James Wilson, of Dunedin, son of the Rev. James Wilson, of Upper Hutt, and formerly of Mayfield, left for Wellington last evening and will sail on Nov.ember 21 for Ceylon, where he will take up a position with the Callender Cable and Construction Company.
