FINE AMD: MILD TO-DAY. The sun shone in a hazy sky to-day, and the temperature was mild. There was a light breeze from the northwest. The barometer is very low, the reading this morning being 29.28 inches, compared with 29.43 inches yesterday. To-day’s reading is the lowest since October 25, when 29.12 inches was registered. Maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday and last night were 59.7 degrees and 36.2 degrees, compared with 61.1 degrees and 42,3 degrees on Monday. Two points of rain were recorded for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. todays.
TO-DAY’S FORECAST. j (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General inference: A secondary depression is passing in the south while an anticyclone extends across tse north Tasman Sea on to northern New Zealand. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oarnaru is as follows: — Strong southwesterly winds. Weather cold and changeable, with scattered showers. Seas rather rough to rough.
