GENERAL ELECTIONS
MID-CANTERBURY CONTEST. MR J. CARE AT HIGHBANK. V Mr J. Carr, National candidate for the Mid-Canterbury seat, ably opened his campaign last evening when he addressed a largely-attended meeting at the Higlibank School. Mr V. Mehrten presided. Mr Carr outlined the National party policy for the future, and 1 stressed the benefits that had accrued under Coalition administration in the last four years. He criticised at length the Democrat policy, and compared it with the National policy, the latter born of experience and the other theoretical. Mr Carr was accorded a very attentive hearing by an enthusiastic audi-. ence. He answered a number of questions, and a vote of thanks, moved by Mr It. J. S. Wilson and seconded by Mr Suckling, was carried unanimously.
