ENTRIES TOTAL 2886.
DECREASES IN SOME SECTIONS.
Entries - for the Ashburton Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s fiftyninth annual show which is to be held on the Ashburton Showgrounds next Thursday total 2886, compared with 3037 last year. The decrease, chiefly in the live stock sections, is said to be mainly a result of an unsatisfactory season.
Sheep show a large increase, the total being 431, compared with 361 last year. Cattle have dropped back by 47 to 106, while horses number 415, the total last year being 435. Pigs liave also declined, only eight coining forward, whereas there were 15 a year ago. Forty-two dogs will he penned, and at the 1934 show there were 34. In the farm, dairy produce and domestic sections there has been a drop of 115, the total being 1841. llabbits total 43, compared with 83 last year. Though the total entries are much below the previous figure, they must be counted as very satisfactory, for they are far in advance of those at shows held in much larger centres.
