DILIGENT SEARCH FAILS
(United Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.35 a.m.) HOBART, This Day.
Another bomb Was thrown in Hobart gaol. Nobody was injured and the wall was only slightly damaged.
This is the fourth occasion in recent years that Explosives have been hurled by .a prisoner. The last occasion, being on September 1. Despite diligent searching by the gaol staff, it is .thought that the ingredients for bomb-making are still secreted in the gaol.
A Hobart cablegram dated September 2, stated:— A gelignite bomb, thrown from an upstairs cell, exploded two yards behind Warder Par doe .and tore a hole in the asphalted exercise yard of the gaol. Warder Pardoe, who is a special research officer, was not hurt. T.he bomb was crudely constructed. It is believed a deliberate attempt was made on Warder Pardoe’s life.
