HORSE AND ’PLANE
ELEVATOR PARTLY EATEN. A New South Wales airman was delayed for more than a day lately because a horse took a lancy to ope of the elevators of his aeroplane and ate part of it. Pilot Small had left his Codock machine at the Young aerodrome at night, and when he made an inspection of it early next morning, preparatory to a flight to Mascot, he found that there was a deep dent in the aluminium nose of the craft. The theory was formed that a, horse had blundered into it during the night. The Inspection also disclosed the damage to the elevator. The horse had evidently liked the sweet flavour of the preparation with which the fabric of the elevator had been treated, and had chewed the fabric. The damage was not extensive.
