ST. JAMES THEATRE. The screen story of “In Cali elite,” in which Dolores Del Rio. and Fat O’Brien are featured, and which will be shown finally to-night at the St. James Theatre, is in itself thoroughly Spanish-American. Starting with the star, Miss Del Rio, who is herself a native of Mexico, and of the truly Spanish type, the First National casting director had no difficulty in getting many true Mexicans or Spanisli-Ameri-cans for those Latin characters of the play, including Leo Carrillo, a member of one of the oldest “Californiano” families, whose forebears from Spain settled in the very spot where modern Agua Caliente is situated. Genuine Mexican musicians, singers, entertainers and people for the crowd scenes were readily obtainable from the casting bureau in Hollywood, as well as among the crowds and attaches at the resort while on location.

MAJESTIC THEATRE. Francis Drake —adventurer, pirate, knight, lover—conqueror of the great Armada. This story of one of England’s greatest sons, who crossed the vast oceans in a cockle-shell of a ship, whose defeat of the Armada humbled proud Spain and made England Mistress of the Seas, is the most colourful adventure-romance ever presented on the audible screen. Drake’s romance with Elizabeth Sydenham, lady-in-waiting at Queen Elizabeth’s court; his .voyages of plunder and merry comradeship, culminating in the fight with the Mighty Armada—a spectacle never before equalled'on the screen —all combine to make “Drake of England, showing at the Majestic Theatre tonight, at two sessions to-morrow, and finally oil Monday night, an entertainment epic that will live long. The picture teems with amazing realistic scenes, but probably the most thrilling of all is the Battle of the Armada.
