NAVAL MARRIAGES
REMOVAL OF DIFFICULTIES ACTION BY THE ADMIRALTY. (United Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 9 a.m.) LONDON, September 29. Happier naval marriages is the aim of the British Admiralty, which is establishing a welfare and marriage allowance section, at Portsmouth, Devonport and Chatham, under feminine supervision. Fleet orders instruct commanders immediately to institute any essential inquiries into seamen’s families, enabling the section to deal with domestic troubles such as a wife’s difficulty with rent when her husband is abroad 1 . The system will stabilise work thus far done unofficially.
