Bur gin (Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade), expressed the view that . local and. limited signs of economic, recovery which had taken place so far could only be made general by freeing the channels of the international trade. He said the British Government was in favour of an3 T step which increase the yolnme of world trade, and for that reason retained its confidence in the principle of the niost favoured nation clause as tending to reduce trade barriers.
