SPEED OF 100 MILES AN HOOh.

The new streamlined express Silver Jubilee, which the London and North East Railway will put into service between London and Newcastle next Monday underwent trials to-day in which the engine maintained a speed of mors than 100 miles ail hour over six miles down falling grades. The maximum speed recorded was a fraction more than 101 miles an hour on the reverse run. The engine reached the summit at 72 miles an hour.
