THE RAKAIA CLUB. the annual meeting. The annual meeting; of the Kalcaia Athletic and Cycling Club was held in the library on Monday evening- Mr W • Shellock presided. , Motions of sympathy were passed with the relatives of Messrs Ji. Lordlier, It. O’Connell, J. Pye, and J. Greenaway. Motions of sympathy m their illness were passed with Airs id. Muckle, Mrs Cronin, and Messrs A. b. Henderson, H. C. Nelson, and A. Weaver. . The balance-sheet showed a net loss of £lB 7s 'lOd on the year's working. The club had £7o on fixed deposit. It was decided to give a special prize to the first iiakaia competitor to finish in the Waiinate to Christchurch road race.
It was decided to present two prizes for the cards even jugs which are being held by a itakaia committee to assist the health stamp campaign. The election of officers resulted Patron, Mr J. It was decided to Bold the sports on December 7. The following programme was drawn up:—Cycling: One mile district, four-lap handicap, two-mile wheel race, one mile handicap, two-lap handicap, two-lap women’s handicap. Running: 100 yards handicap (boys under 17 years), primary schools’ relay race (country schools in Ashburton, Ellesmere and Selwyn counties), 135 yards Sheffield Handicap, 880 yards handicap, 22(J yards handicap, 440 yards handicap, 1760 yards handicap, 100 yards women's handicap, married women’s and married men’s races; pillow fight, putting shot, and sheaf-tossing. Dancing: Irish reel (under 12 years), Highland fling (under 12 years), Seann Triubhais (under 12 years), sword dance (under 12 years), Irish jig (under 15 years), sailor’s hornpipe '(under 15), Highland fling (12 and under 15), sword dance (12 and under 15). It was decided to hold sports for children, and also a baby show.
