PROTRACTED MEETING
S.I.M.U. INSURANCE COMPANY. HEAVY BALLOT FOR DIRECTORS. SAFEGUARDS AGAINST INTRUDERS. f (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A ballot taken for . the election of two directors of the North Island Motor Union Insurance Company, at the annual- meeting last night, created an unusual amount of interest. Three nominations were received for two vacancies. The retiring directors, Mr B. L. Donne and Dr. E. E. Porrjtt, stood for re-election, the new candidate being Mr E. A. Batt (chairman of the Wellington Automobile Association). After the meeting had lasted nearly 3-J hours it was announced that the scrutineers could not complete the count for another 2£ hours. The proceedings were adjourned till noon today. The meeting was open to members only and precautions were taken to establish the bona tides of those seeking admission, checkers being stationed at the entrance doors to see that no one not qualified gained entry.
