That an offer of £12,000 for , a footballer had been rejected is revealed by the “Daily Mail,” which declares that money cannot buy talent this season. Clubs willing to pay enormous transfer fees cannot do so because other clubs find stars are tco difficult to replace. Arsenal spent £30,000 last year on players, and lias new unsuccessfully bid £12,000 for Watson, a Heart of Midlothian player. Liverpool rejected £13,000 for two inside forwards, and Fulham £IB,OOO lor three men. Blackburn declined £BOOO for its centre forward, and Hotspurs directly sought 12 players and failed.
